judge in Houston ruled that Compass Bank's Non Competition
Agreement was unenforceable as a matter of law; Haas
v. Advo Systems, Inc.; 168 F.3d 732 (5th Cir-1999) A
federal court of appeals overruled Summary Judgment
granted for the employer in an age discrimination case
holding that the discriminatory statements made by the
company in a hiring interview constitute evidence of
age discrimination; Beaubouef v. Phillips Petroleum
Company; 147 F. Sup. 2d 654 (S.D. Tex 2001) A federal
District Judge overruled a summary judgment motion filed
by the employer in a pregnancy discrimination case;
Fuller v. Temple-Inland Forest Products Corp.; 942 F.
Sup. 307 (E.D. Tex. 1996) A federal District Judge ruled
that this case brought under a workers compensation
retaliation statute was not removable to Federal Court.
Recent Jury Verdicts: $2.5 million award against Bell
Helicopter for age discrimination of 2 terminated employees.
